Brown Leather Brogue Shoe by Goodwin Smith
Classic Oxford shoe in a subtle Semi Brogue that's suitable for town or country.
Obviously this would violate the universal acknowledge rule of gentlemanly conduct, and commit the ultimate sartorial faux pas. “Never wear brown in town,” I hear you say, but then again aren't rules made to be broken!
Hand Made Oxford style upper featuring semi brogued toe cap and brogue-ing cut detail around facing, topline and quarter.
Thermoplastic rubber sole for the practical considerations of comfort, durability and grip.
GS stag head logo branding. Famous Stag's Head logo is gold foiled onto the sock, and debossed into the sole.
Smooth calf skin lining and with cotton skeleton for breathability. Leather sock, padded for comfort.
Understated quality for those in the know..
It all began in 1928. After a successful career on the pitch playing for Manchester City, Ernest “Ernie” Goodwin, created The Bacup Shoe Company. The shoe mill was located in Lancashire’s Rossendale Valley, an area famous for its thriving footwear industry. Through exacting standards and surrounding himself with the best craftspeople, Ernie’s reputation as a quality shoemaker quickly grew.... READ MORE
PREMIUM QUALITY LEATHERS
Goodwin Smith use only the finest eco-friendly, vegetable tanned, "A" grade leathers - sourced from the best tanneries - in order to produce high quality and durable shoes. This particular one is a premium buff calfskin leather, which has been primed to accept the unique colouration applied by our master craftsman. 100% chromium free.
SOFT CALFSKIN LINING
Goodwin Smith combine a soft calfskin leather lining with a printed cotton skeleton for comfort and breath ability. The sock and collar are not only luxurious, but they improve comfort and give the shoe strength and support in the key areas.
STACKED LEATHER SOLE
This shoe is finished with a leather stacked sole unit. A leather heel stack meets a TPR (thermoplastic rubber) heel cap, the forepart is produced from hard-wearing Argentinian leather. Improved grip and durability is achieved by the addition of an injection-moulded forepart tread. This combination of traditional leather with rubber injection creates a comfortable, long-lasting shoe with great traction, offering better grip than a full leather sole.
HAND CUT LEATHER SELECTION
In order to offer the best shoe possible, Goodwin Smith ensure that only the best sections of leather hide are used in production. To achieve this, the leather selection and cutting processes are done by hand. While this is much more laborious than using moulds or lasers, we are able to avoid cuts, looseness or other unwanted imperfections on the finished article.
Every shoe in the collection is linked by consistent detailing, synonymous with Goodwin Smith. From the use of a navy blue highlight detail on the heel tap or collar, to our famous stag logo embossed to the heel, the devil is in the detail. The full logo is gold foil, and can be found printed to the sock, debossed into the soles, leather waist, and even rubber sole tread. Any shoes with a brogue toe cap carries stylised GS initials within the exquisite punching. Because it's the little things that matter.
