Irish Country Clothing Brands - Hollands Takes a Trip to Showcase Ireland!
Although the Irish are well known for their Guinness, live music, and fun loving nature, they are also the wonderful hosts of an international trade fair in the heart of Dublin. The showcase displays Irish-made goods from both established and emerging brands to over 4,000 trade buyers from both Ireland and overseas.
We were kindly invited to Showcase Ireland by Enterprise Ireland, who arranged the wonderful event to try to keep Irish-made apparel circulating within the fashion world, by showcasing the best of Irish entrepreneurs. Being immensely proud to be connected with such wonderful Irish brands at Hollands Country Clothing, it was a no-brainer when deciding whether to attend.
So we blew the dust off our passports and prepared for our first event in the last two years that wasn't hosted over Zoom.
Our Arrival at the Event
After arriving at Showcase, it was apparent how grateful the Irish companies were to be there in-person again. After what had felt like a challenging few years, they were finally able to showcase their incredible Irish craftsmanship once again.
The Royal Dublin Society Hall was bursting with Irish craft, home wear, fashion, and accessories of all kinds. Among the stalls are Jack Murphy, Lighthouse, Mac in a Sac, and Aran Woollen Mills - a selection of Irish brands we're honoured to stock.
Spotlight on Irish Brands - Highlights from the Exhibition
Jack Murphy
True to Irish heritage, Jack Murphy launched his first business from Skerries after growing up in Dublin. His second son then joined the business and rebranded it as Jack Murphy Clothing, selling outdoor clothing and camping gear.
Their stall at Showcase really did reflect how far the company had come. It was tastefully put together, showcasing their country tweed and best-selling heritage range.
Lighthouse
Lighthouse are designed with care in Northern Ireland. Their inspiration comes from their love of the coast and a desire to make life a little simpler. The company has been creating their well-known waterproof jackets for over 25 years and continues to improve and refresh their classic designs.
Their stall felt like you had stepped straight into the seaside. The collection is refreshing and eye-catching with its use of vibrant colours. A clear favourite for outdoor lovers.
Aran Woollen Mills
Inspired by the beauty of the Irish landscape and ocean, Aran Woollen Mills founded themselves in 1965. A traditional family-owned and managed business, they produce a comprehensive collection of knitwear. The details featured in each one of their sweaters, or any one of their accessories, give the luxury and quality that Aran is known for.
The stall was beautifully presented and embraced Irish culture with an earthy design, which drew your eye to the traditional cable knit design.
Summary
Overall, it was a wonderful opportunity for Irish brands to showcase their talent to retailers all over the world. With many of the products being sustainable, affordable, and ethical, it is exciting to see so many entrepreneurs grow and keep the Irish name going.
We look forward to visiting next year and seeing even more talent. If you're interested in a sneak peak behind the scenes of our trip, check out this YouTube short!
