Spring Farm staycations in the UK: 6 Idyllic Breaks for 2026

Spring Farm staycations in the UK: 6 Idyllic Breaks for 2026

The Country Escape You Didn’t Know You Needed

At Hollands, we live and run our business from the family farm, so you’d be forgiven for thinking the last place we’d choose for a break is another one – (busman’s holiday and all that!)

But perhaps, that’s exactly why we can recommend a farm staycation as the country escape you didn’t know you needed, as we know first-hand just how restorative countryside life can be.

Farm staycations in the UK have grown steadily in popularity over the last few years, especially among families, possibly due to COVID or simply because more people are discovering the hidden gems that lie right here in the British countryside (with no airport queues in sight!)

So, to save you any work digging for these gems, we’ve handpicked our top eight farm stays for 2026, each chosen for its charm, authenticity and connection to real countryside life- just in time for Easter break!
So, leave the passports on the table, and let’s get started.

1. Cwmcrwth Farm Cottages, Carmarthenshire, Wales

We’re starting off strong, tucked away in the rolling countryside of West Wales, where you’ll find the traditional stone cottages of Cwmcrwth Farm. Thoughtfully converted into comfortable, family-friendly retreats, these cosy stays sit on a working farm, with certainly no shortage of authenticity.

What makes Cwmcrwth Farm especially appealing in spring is the hands-on element. Any animal-mad kids (and adults, we don’t judge) can get involved feeding the pigs, donkeys and sheep- and you won’t even need to load the car to do it. If you do fancy venturing further afield however, the Brecon Beacons are close by, offering gentle walks, bigger hikes and plenty of room to roam.

For young families, particularly those with animal-loving children, this is exactly what a relaxed, refreshing, countryside break should be.

2. Humble Bee Farm, North Yorkshire

Set in the Yorkshire Wolds, just a short drive from Scarborough’s coastline, Humble Bee Farm offers more than just countryside charm and creature comforts. Take your pick from a mix of wigwams, bell tents and cottages; all well-equipped enough for a taste of farm life without giving up a proper bed and a hot shower.

Spring is a particularly good time to visit, with space for children to explore the on-site farmyard (including baby lambs), follow nature trails through the surrounding fields, and, if you time it right, enjoy one of their much-loved pizza nights.

For young families or even couples dipping their toe into rural escapes for the first time, Humble Bee Farm offers an easy introduction to countryside breaks in the UK.

3. Campwell Farm, Wiltshire

Campwell Farm Wiltshire

If your idea of a countryside break leans more towards the open skies and firepits kind than fitted kitchens and television sets, The Farm Camp in Wiltshire may be just the ticket for your perfect farm stay. This stripped-back, eco-friendly, sustainable stay offers cabins, a yurt, and 7 bell tents, all set within a fifth-generation working sheep farm- so you can be comfortable but with a definite wild edge (well, we’re talking more cows than lions, thankfully).

Sticking on the wild side, there’s something refreshing about outdoor showers, a morning paddleboarding on the River Avon and an afternoon walk that encourages getting away from the world a while. Evenings are the best spent around the fire, cooking and watching the sun set, not through a window, but out in the fresh air and connected to nature.

For eco-conscious families or couples who like their luxury a little less polished, The Farm Camp offers an experience that feels adventurous, without being overwhelming.

4. Feather Down Farms (multiple locations UK-wide)

If you like the idea of farm life, but want a little reassurance when it comes to the comfort side of things, Feather Down Farms set a high standard across multiple working farms throughout the UK, from Sussex to Cumbria and beyond.

Their range of accommodation styles offers the perfect place to cuddle up, with wood-burning stoves, proper beds, and even flushing loos, all set in the real countryside on working farms, with animals to meet and space still to explore.

For first-time glampers, families unsure how “rustic” they want to be, or couples who prefer comfort without sacrificing the countryside character, Feather Down Farms offers a confident introduction to farm staycations.

5. Lower Hill Farm, Shropshire

Lower Hill Camp Site

Set near the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lower Hill Farm is the sort of place that’s simple- it doesn’t try too hard, and that’s exactly its appeal. Offering a mix of traditional camping and glamping options, it provides a simple base for families who want space, fresh air and a slower pace, with open fields, quiet corners and plenty of room for children to tire out those energetic legs.

The surrounding Shropshire countryside is beautifully green in spring, with walking routes and gentle hills that reward even the most leisurely wanderer. For nature lovers and budget-conscious families in particular, Lower Hill Farm proves that a countryside break doesn’t need bells and whistles to make the perfect stay.

6.  Hoe Grange Holidays, Peak District

Of course, with the Peak District on our doorstep here at Hollands, it’s only right we mention a staycation closer to home. Hoe Grange Holidays is set right at the edge of the Peaks, and their self-catering lodges are eco-friendly and also fully accessible- with options for dog-friendly, and even horse-friendly stays!

Alpacas and hens add to the farm stay experience, with an on-site honesty shop for that extra authentic touch. You’re also perfectly placed here to explore the Peak District’s many walking routes, cycling trails and market towns, with the reassurance of returning to somewhere calm at the end of the day!

For families, particularly those seeking accessible countryside breaks, Hoe Grange strikes that careful balance between practicality and proper rural escape.

Closing: Make Spring 2026 the Year of the Farm Stay

So, if you’re planning your own countryside escape this spring, it might also be the perfect excuse to check over the kit cupboard. From dependable spring outerwear and children’s layers to walking socks and wellies ready for muddy mornings, you’ll find everything you need for the trip here at Hollands Country Clothing- and maybe we’ll have our very own farm staycation one day (you never know!)
