Mary Ida Young was an herbalist from 19th-century Massachusetts in the United States of America.

Back then, if a horse developed lameness, the common practice was to use “blistering” agents—caustic substances that caused blistering of the skin to increase blood flow and speed recovery.

Mary was driven to provide a more humane alternative, leading to the creation of Absorbine Veterinary Liniment. This revolutionary product offered a gentler solution while effectively addressing lameness and soreness. Her husband, Wilbur, began selling this horse liniment alongside his other deliveries, and the rest, as they say, is history!

From these humble beginnings, Absorbine grew and evolved. The brand's commitment to improving horse care has only strengthened over the years, driven by a passion to help animals live their best lives.

Two further key moments certainly have to be noted.
